After sifting through many genres of music Brian’s hunger was finally satisfied when he was introduced to the sweet sounds of psychedelica at the start of millennia. With this his creative musical journey began, drawing inspiration from great artists such as Logic Bomb, Fatali and Protoculture. When producing music Brian feels connected to the land. He draws from the vibrations of the earth creating vast dynamics like that of a storm. The calm, the swelling of the clouds, then moving through the forces of nature; wind, thunder, lightning and rain and finally the feeling of cleansing & rebirth after it has passed. This project is a musical journey into the spaciousness of a sonic soundscape, creating a smooth driving flow, with combinations of many colours and textures. It’s an exploration of how sounds harmonize and react in complex rhythms and patterning. It could best be describes as complexity within subtlety. Growing up the boys always had a passion for music, both played in bands and experimented with software and hardware. They first joined forces as part of a band “The Teslas”, but as the band fell apart their urge to jam didn’t fade. Both had been using Korg Electribes and decided it was time to see what they could do with the ESX and EMX together……….. Months later, the boys finally emerged from the lodge/studio to see the light of day and with them came the sounds of S&M Project.Since breaking into the Melbourne doof scene in 2008, the duo have played regularly at party’s and festivals including Rainbow Serpent, Ostara, Earthcore, Loose Encounters, Local Produce, Electric Picnic and just about every Melbourne crew at some point. After a solid two years of playing in and around Melbourne they decided it was time to spread their music across Australia. On the search for a new scene, in 2010 they took off in their bus and panel van, crossed the Nullabor and became “Perthlings”. First playing at Somethink Different and then nearly every outdoor party after that. Now in 2011, the boys are on opposite sides of the country pursuing side projects, while still keeping the S&M Project sound evolving. http://soundcloud.com/ + FRUMP – live (Fool Proof) Frump aka Travis savage had spent the last 7 years djing south african style psytrance around local bush doofs and clubs under the name Savotage. Hoping to soon see him self playing at all your local festivals pushing out + IMPERFECT CIRCLE – (Astral Lotus) Born in 1982 in Tehran, Iran, I am currently residing in Melbourne, Australia. My musical life started in 1998. The first and only band I ever joined (as a drummer) was a rock band called Kahtmayan. I left the band and the country in 2004 aiming to see the rest of the world.Starting with India, I spent a while wandering around, learning a bit of Tabla and Indian music in general. However, the most important thing that happened to me there, was that I got introduced to the electronic music scene; more precisely, making and playing Psytrance in Goa.I went to Turkey and -while still wandering actively!- got to know more about Turkish percussion and met wonderful individuals who showed me the reality of Sufi music and its proper practice.Malaysia was the first place I officially began studying again. At the International College of Music, I studied Jazz music and production. I moved to Australia next and studied Music Technology at the University of Adelaide; it has been the best 3 years of my life so far. Probably what happened to me in Adelaide shaped most of my current life. I joined the Astral lotus crew and got involved in outdoor events, played more music and produced even more. I think I owe most of my understanding of electronic music to these individuals and my teachers at Adelaide Uni. http://soundcloud.com/ + MEGAPIXEL – (Adapted recs.) Megapixel, aka Megumi, 22, DJ representative for Adapted Records and budding Producer. Meg started her musical journey at the age of five and has an extensive knowledge of music ranging from piano, guitar and the flute. In her teens, Megumi then discovered the world of psychedelic trance parties, fell in love with this unique style of music and found she could mix her hobby on the weekends with her passion of music and it was at this moment that meg knew she wanted to experiment with electronic dance music, bought decks of her own and has never looked back. Since early 2008, Megumi has been a regular DJ in the perth outdoor psychedelic scene. A highlight was playing mainstage to a crowd of 1200 people at Earthdance Bencubbin WA 2009. Djing and also holding outdoor psytrance parties in perth since 2008, under BIGsmall Productions, Megumi is well known for her chunky and funky tech/electro sets and fun chunky n funky psytrance sets making her the perfect DJ for any occasion. Megapixel will blow your mind with pure psychedelic brain candy, energetic beats, fresh and bangin sounds, combining deep melodies and power all the way through! http://soundcloud.com/ + CRIME MASTER GOGO – (DXM) My set is a story of an adventure, set in a sinister forest in forever mountains, right next to a beach. Faithful companions, a snake in the sleeve, flutterbyes and twenty five monkeys. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends, our protagonist makes a life altering choice and learns an important lesson; it’s all very exciting! Something for everyone…It is freedom, it is love and it is of all the interesting people who joined me on this mission. My set is this story, it is my psychedelic journey written in sound. http://soundcloud.com/ ************************** + ELECTRONIC AWAKENINGS Premiere Australian Screening http:// + Collection of Local and International Documentaries and films We are thrilled to be hosting the Australian screening of the fantastic new ‘ELECTRONIC AWAKENING’ Documentary at Colour of Sound. Electronic Awakening is an ethnographic documentary film that investigates the spirituality and mysticism of Electronic Dance Music culture. Director’s statement “In the summer of 2006 I traveled out West under a grant from my university to attend an assortment of parties and festivals investigating the mysticism of Electronic Music Culture. As an outsider to the scene, I was deeply intrigued to discover that such a deep spirituality existed within this community. Throughout the course of my initial field research I continuously encountered stories of life-changing experiences that were happening on the dance floor at these events. From my previous research into the subject of ancient religions, I questioned if what was being experienced at these parties were in fact tapping the same “sacred” source as shamans of the archaic past. I theorized that if there were some true and gnostic connection between ancient ritual and this contemporary youth phenomena, an intrinsic spirituality would have developed within this dance community. What I discovered was everything I could have imagined, but nothing at all what I expected… I hope that the inspiration and passion I received from my experience with this culture will prevail through this film, and that I may offer as much of the beauty of that ‘moment of oneness’ we all have in the music to those who have yet to experience it.” We have designed a comfy and beautiful outdoor cinema to share the Electronic Awakening screening together and coinciding with the worldwide launch of their vision and respective celebrations. Activating the life of the party and the warmth of the audience. We are celebrating what we love with who we love. Vibe inducing good-times coming up! ************************** + We are shouting out to all who have a fantastic skill, trick or talent More information and prize pack details released shortly. ************************** & So many more ************************** + MORE MUSICIANS & SONIC SPINNERS THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT! ************************** Tickets available through Phone, Outlets & Online NOW Phone: 1300 GET TIX (438 849) + Alley Tunes – Glenferrie Rd Hawthorn + Ministry of Style + PlazmaLab + Pixie Collective + Manuka Wholefoods Online Tickets via: http:// Neverland Entertainment Venue: This is Santas Afterparty! |
